Concept Developed

Here i looked at developing the idea of having an adventurous 3D game where the characters are fictional creatures. The game will be based in a mysterious land which has been torn in two by the forces of Good and Evil;

Define Mimi:
A word to define a wonderful friend. Sweet, funny, sarcastic, but GREAT and beautiful.

....a nickname for a great person

Kamari

Main Plot:
Princess Zuri has been captured by Princess Mauvais who is her evil twin.

Princess Zuri's protectors; The Mimis, go out to look for help from kamali and ..... who are the Princess' friends.

In the process the Mimis get trapped in cages by Mauvais each holding a piece of the only map leading to Princess Zuri. Mauvais hypnotises some of the Mimis and christens them the Imims! Can the Mimis overpower Mauvais' Magick?

Distraught Grandpa Mimi approaches ........ with a plea of help to save the Princess and the Mimis.
........ begin their adventure with the guidance of Grandpa Mimi. On the way battling the evil magic of Mauvais.

Initial Ideas

Before having my meeting with Mike I constructed a few sketches to storyboard any ideas for a possible game.

Here I took the idea of 'Plumber 2' and came up with an idea of creating a path for water or some kind of liquid to flow to the end, where the player will need to rearrange the pipes to make the path. This would get harder and harder as the levels increase. This would be an educational game for children.

Here I looked at doing a game based on distance and physics. However the game would be fairly limited and I found there were many games which were of similar characteristics already.

I looked into creating a vertical scrolling game where the platform moves faster and faster as the levels increase. The bricks and layout changes too to change difficulty.

Following the theme of a puzzle style game i looked at creating a jigsaw interactive online game. This would mean that the player would need to join the pieces of the game together to create a finished image.  As the game progresses, the pieces increase and the layout of the image become harder to place.

Here i looked at creating a platform game inspired by 'Rayman'. The character would be an animal, here showing an elephant or possibly a 'human-like' character using animals to navigate through the levels.
I decided to do this in a way that the platforms are 3d and so are the characters. The camera angles would show the character moving from various ways and the game is based in a forest type place.
There will be a map in the corner of the screen where the player can see where they are heading to

The aim would be to help the character in the cage.

Research

At this stage I looked at doing a children's puzzle game and researched into existing games to have a look at how they are created and for inspiration.

Cartoon Network: Flight of the Hamsters

Aim of this game was to accumulate the highest value in distance using 5 hamsters and a pillow! XD

This game is designed to educate. The pipes need to be aligned in the right way to help the water flow through the pipes.

Icey Tower

The screen scrolls upwards in this game where the player needs to jump up onto a series of platforms. These however do get harder as the levels increase along with the speed of scrolling.

Rayman

This is a 2D side-scrolling platform game where the player is the character of Rayman. The game consists of a series of small levels cobining together to form the narrative; defeat of Mr Dark, the evil villain of Rayman.

Crash Bandicoot

In this game you play in  third person to defeat 'Dr Cortex' and save Tawna a female bandicoot. The game consists of small levels illustrated on a map to help you navigate in the game.

Generating Initial Concepts

Here I decided to do some mind-maps to help me to create a game and think about the target audience too. I also did this to look into genre, styles and also narratives.
